Knowledge to Knowhow -7

May there be many gifts that you come across and share.

This week at Knowledge to Knowhow, I would like to share the FIRST important lesson that I have learned in my life and turned it into knowhow.

One day my first grade primary school teacher, Ms. Sebahat, said, "My Guldem, I'm going to the birthday of a child your age today, I want to buy her a book. Since she is your age, I would like you to choose it. Come along, let's go to the bookstore across the street."

I went happily, she said, "Let's get the one you like the most". I looked at all of them, I liked a book very, very much, it was a very beautiful book with jagged edges and bright pictures. 🤩 While I was reaching for the book a moment, I decided to choose another paler book that I didn't like as much, because I didn't want "that most beautiful book" to go to that little girl I never knew. My teacher took the book I chose, we packed it nicely and we went back to school.

After 1-2 lessons, Ms. Sebahat said, “We have a celebration now, we will celebrate your friend who have learnt to read and write the fastest” and called me to the blackboard. 🙄 When she reached out to give me the package we bought together, which was on the table, I felt queasy.😊 I hadn't thought about it in the slightest until that moment… So that book was meant for me. I was so angry at myself!

Since that day, even in the most competitive conditions, I try to choose all the gifts of life as the “best for me” for myself and for my environment. Because I realized that in this life, it is never clear which gift will really belong to whom.

This information has helped me the most in my business life… May there be many gifts that you come across and share.
